 Marketing Plan

You have to have a marketing plan. Now that you have set up your social media pages, received your business cards, told your friend and family that you are a professional braider, what do you do next to get business?  Will the clients come to the salon every 4 to 6 weeks to get their hair braided?  Will they buy hair products from you? Will you make enough money to pay your overhead?  Most people starting out, do not have money to spend on advertising.  So what do you do?

  • Take your business cards with you wherever you go.  Introduce yourself and hand them out to people on a regular basis.
  • Offer a discount on the back of the card! 10% off on their next hairstyle.  A free hair scarf to wrap their hair at night or maybe a sample of the shea-butter mixture you made.  Chances are if people are getting a free item or a discount, they are more likely to come to you for their braiding service than someone who offered nothing free.  Sometimes just handing over a card could prompt an on the spot consultation, which may lead this new client to your chair.”  Within a year you could be fully booked!
  • Post on social media.  Show off pictures of your work on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr and any other social media platform. Social media is the best way right now to reach potential clients.  All you need to do is take quality photos.  This can be done with your cellphone.
